VIC HORVATH
WINS PITTSBURGH
Vic Horvath (18-14) from Detroit, MI defeated Ron Pearson (18-11) from Lebanon, PA in the World Series to win the Pittsburgh tournament. This is Horvath's first SOM Tour event victory and his 8th face-to-face tournament victory overall. Horvath outlasted Pearson by winning game 7 of the world series by the score of 4-3. This was Pearson's first world series appearance and second playoff experience overall.
Horvath defeated Don Leong (16-10) from Laruel, MD in the deciding game 5 of the semifinals to advance while Pearson swept Mike Kman (14-11) from Enola, PA in the other semifinal. Pearson and Leong won their respective divisions. Paul DiSabatino (11-10) from Claymont, DE and Ben Leong (10-10) from Gaithersburg, MD were eliminated in the final regular season game.

MIKE KMAN
WINS ALBANY
Mike Kman (20-11) from Enola, PA defeated Tim Rice (17-14) from Albany, NY to win the Albany tournament. This was Mike's 10th SOMT tournament win and his 20th lifetime tournament win. Tim's run to the world series was even more impressive considering this was his first tournament. Kman defeated Gene Abood (13-11) from South Plainfield, NJ in one semifinal while Rice defeated Matt Crowley (16-8) from Philadelphia, PA in the other semifinal.
Rice defeated John Ciabattari (11-12) from Englewood, NY in the quarterfinals while Kman defeated Sam Drapeau (11-12) from Manchester, CT also in the quarterfinals. Matt Crowley finished the regular season 15-5 which was good enough to win his division the overall #1 seed and a first round bye. Gene Abood finished 12-8 in the regular season which was also good enough to win his division and earn a first round bye. Dan Martone (9-11), Tony Tucker (9-11) and Andrew Gess (9-11) were all eliminated in the final game.

DOUG YANO
WINS BROOKLYN
Doug Yano (20-11) from Pearl River, NY defeated Brian Favereaux (18-14) of Cromwell, CT in the World Series to win the Brooklyn Tournament. This is Yano's second TOUR victory this season. After a slow start Yano want on a tremendous run to make the playoffs as the #4 seed. He then swept the #1 seed Mike Kman (16-9) from Enola, PA in the semifinals. Favereaux defeated Gene Abood (14-12) from South Plainfield, NJ, 3 games to 1, in the other semifinal to advance to his first world series.

JOHN KARADENES
WINS MONTREAL - CANADA
John Karadenes (16-10) of Greenfield Center, NY defeated Matt Crowley (13-13) of Philadelphia, PA to win the Montreal-Canada OPEN tournament which was held the weekend of March 31st/April 1st. This was Karadenes' first Tour win.
Crowley defeated Harry Brodie (13-11) of Montreal and and Steve Dufresne (13-11) of Verdun, Quebec in a three-way shootout to advance to the world series. Justin Verlander tossed a perfect game in the world series.

MIKE KMAN
WINS PUNTA GORDA, FL
Mike Kman (20-7) of Enola, PA defeated John Perez (17-13) of Punta Gorda, FL to win the Florida-OPEN tournament which was jointly held by STAR Tournaments and SOM Tour. This was Kman's 9th Tour victory and 19th tournament win overall.
Kman and Russ Lemmon (13-10) of Vero Beach, Fla. won their respective divisions and received a round one bye.
In an all Florida quarterfinal - Perez defeated Dave Drobena (11-12) of Orlando in one; while Butch D'Agostino (13-13) of Palmetto defeated Ken Biss (11-12) of Ft. Lauderdale in the other.
Perez defeated Lemmon in one semifinal to advance to the world series; while Kman defeated D'Agostino in the other semifinal setting up the mega matchup world series.
Perez defeated Ben & Don Leong (10-10) of Maryland in a one-game playoff to advance to the playoffs as the #3 seed. D'Agostino defeated Paul DiSabatino (10-10) of Claymont, DE also in a one-game playoff to advance as a #3 seed.

DAVE BENGERT
WINS CHICAGO
Dave Bengert (20-8) from Park Ridge, IL defeated Paul Brownlee (17-13) from Park Forest, Il in the world series to win the Chicago tournament. The win is Bengerts 4th on tour and gives the 2011 runner-up an early lead in the white-section. Bengert defeated Vic Horvath (11-12) from Detroit, MI in one semifinal while Brownlee defeated the tag-team of Dave Hegg & David Cohns (14-11) of Geneva, IL in the other. Bengert and Hegg/Cohns won their respective divisions. Brownlee defeated Dan Endreas (13-9) from Milwaukee, WI in a one-game playoff to advance.

DOUG YANO
WINS HARRISBURG
Doug Yano (22-10) from Pearl River, NY defeated Mike Felice (19-11) from Hershey, PA to win the Harrisburg tournament. This was Yano's first career tournament win! After breezing through the regular season (15-5) and taking the division and overall #1 seed; Yano had to come from behind in the semifinals before clinching his victory in a thrilling 1-0 final in game 7 of the world series. Yano selected Mike Napoli with the first overall pick. Felice also won his division and advanced to the world series by sweeping the semifinals. Felice selected Verlander with his first pick.
Yano defeated Paul DiSabatino (18-10) of Claymont, DE in the semifinals. It took the full 5 games as Yano came from behind to win both games 4 and 5 in order to advance. Felice defeated the tag-team of Ben & Don Leong (16-11) of Gaithersburg/Laurel, MD in 3 straight games to advance to the world series.
DiSabatino defeated Andrew Gess (12-11) from Exton, PA in the quarterfinals while the Leong's defeated Harry Flawd (12-12) of Lancaster, PA in the quarters.
Gess won a 3 team shootout against John Perez (12-8) of Punta Gorda, FL and Dave Hess (12-8) of Red Lion, PA to advance to the playoffs. Felice won a 1 game playoff against the Leong's to win his draft group and capture the #1 seed and a first round bye. Yano was the other division winner and also had a first round bye.

TONY TUCKER
WINS NEW YORK CITY
Tony Tucker (17-12) from Salisbury Mills, NY defeated Dan Mullarkey (17-12) from Brooklyn, NY in the world series to win the New York City tournament.
Tucker defeated Mark Giddings (15-11) from West Sand Lake, NY 3-1 in one semifinal while Mullarkey defeated Brian Smith (15-11) from West Sand Lake, NY also 3-1 in the other semifinal.
Tucker defeated Dan Martone (12-10) from Parsippany, NJ and Michel Gilbert (12-10) from Quebec City-Canada in a 3-way shootout to advance to the playoffs. Smith and Giddings won their respective divisions.

PAUL DiSABATINO
WINS THROWBACK '77
Congratulations to Paul DiSabatino (20-13) of Claymont DE on winning the Throwback '77 tournament. This was Paul's first tournament win. DiSabatino's base lineup: Bake McBride (CF), Larry Hisle (RF), Greg Luzinski (LF), Willie McCovey (1B), Carlton Fisk (CA), Butch Hobson (3B), Robin Yount (SS) and Frank White (2B).
DiSabatino defeated Mike Kman (19-14) of Enola PA in a thrilling 7 game World Series. Several games were decided in the final at-bat and Paul's victory included coming back from the brink of elimination down 6-0 in game six and 2-3 in the series. DiSabatino came back in game six and then went on to win the series in game seven.
DiSabatino defeated Jim Labruno (17-9) of Neptune, NJ in one semifinal matchup while Kman defeated the tag-team of Paul Ferraro (Pittsburgh PA) and Gary Drobiezewski (Cleveland OH) (17-8) in the other semifinal. Both semifinal series also went the full 5 games before being decided. Labruno and Ferraro/Drobiezewski won their divisions.
